High Princess

Been practicing speed painting + drawing digitally (with reference), and as my hair was a fire ombre, this was the first time I was inspired by something within myself and translated it to Gaga (it's usually the other way around with me taking things Gaga has done and putting them on me).

Unlike most of my work, this went untitled for the entirety of its creation and almost a month post-. It was created from feelings of personal strength/identity and bravery/determination, and so I associated it with Marry the Night (marrying your obstacles, plus, the phoenix visuals at the end of the music video) but with all the hair in this piece, Mary Jane Holland's "When I ignite the flames and put you in my mouth, the grass heats up my insides and my brunette starts to sprout" came to mind. Finally, I settled on "High Princess" from her surprise Zedd collab on Stache, succumbing to something in your life—good or bad—and trying to turn it into something beautiful.
